What
is WaterWerks Kayak Club you ask?
Some local Calgary paddlers recognized a
need for a paddling club focused on helping new paddlers take the next
step from lessons to becoming part of the paddling community (full
fledged stinky gear wearing boaters).
The club mandate is three fold:
- To help support Alberta’s junior development program through
recruitment and fund raising.
- To encourage and facilitate the development of safety and leadership
skills in both novice and experienced paddlers
- To facilitate mentor-ship in the paddling community, whereby new
paddlers can get together with more skilled boaters to better their
skills.
What does the club do?
- Organize both novice, intermediate, and advanced club trips to
various rivers in Alberta and BC.
- Offers clinics in safety and leadership skills, and provide
opportunities to practice new skills.
- Support junior development programs to help educate a whole
new generation of boaters Host social functions (a.k.a. barbecues,
paddle weekends) where members can socialize and meet
new paddling partners.
